Applied Electronics & Instrumentation (AE)

Applied Electronics & Instrumentation Engineers undergo courses in Instrumentation (like Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical), Electrical Machines, Electronic circuits, Control Systems, Digital Signal Processing etc… Theses courses help the Engineers to design, develop and fabricate various electronic related accessories. Another aspect of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering lies in the engineer’s involvement in field of Automation. Automation being one of the latest trend in all Industries, is therefore highly in need for expertise in the field of Electronics and Instrumentation to achieve the requirements.

Job Opportunities
Electronics and Instrumentation Engineers have a bright future ahead of them as they are needed by almost all Industries in various cadres like Design, Development, Fabrication, Inspection, Quality control, Maintenance and Service and so on. Most Software MNC’s also feel the importance of Automation in Electronics background and they are looking for recruiting Electronics and Instrumentation Engineers for their mutual concerns.

Agricultural Engineering (AG)

Agricultural engineers course covers basic physical, engineering and agricultural sciences. Soil conservation, drainage methods, irrigation practices, farm machinery, dairy engineering, are some of the areas dealt with. At the postgraduate level, specialization in crop process engineering, farm machinery and power, soil and water conservation, etc. are taken up. At IIT, Kharagpur, and at IARI (Indian Agricultural Research Institute) New Delhi, a Ph.D. degree of three years duration is also offered.
Job Opportunities
Agricultural engineers may be involved in the sales, marketing and servicing of farm equipment and agricultural implements, in designing and constructing farm buildings, in product planning, mechanizing procedures and crop storage and processing. They could also work for tubewell borings, irrigation and drainage projects, canal irrigation programmes, land reclamation and soil conservation projects.
Jobs in mechanized farms, for rural electrification, and in agro-industrial corporations are also increasing. Agricultural engineers also work as assistant engineers, designers, management trainees, and technical officers in banks. Besides teaching and technical journalism, large numbers of these engineers are absorbed in Central and state governments departments of agriculture

Architecture(AR)

Architectural engineering, also known as Building Engineering, is the application of engineering principles and technology to building design and construction. What differentiates Architectural Engineering as a separate and single, integrated field of study, compared to other engineering disciplines, is its multi-disciplined engineering approach. Through training in and appreciation of architecture, the field seeks integration of building systems within its overall building design. Architectural Engineering includes the design of building systems including Heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, fire protection, electrical, lighting, transportation, and structural systems.

Automobile Engineering(AU)

Automobile engineering deals in the design, development and maintenance of automobiles and related spare parts and it also includes vehicle manufacturing and assembling plants in both private and public sectors, in maintenance and service stations, private transport companies and defense.

Job Opportunities
Auto engineers are employed by state transport undertakings and insurance companiesand also in private vehicle manufacturing plants. Self-employment is also possible in setting up automobile garages or maintenance workshops.

Bio Medical Engineering (BM)

Biomedical engineering is the application of engineering principles and techniques to the medical field. It combines the design and problem solving skills of engineering with medical and biological sciences to help improve patient health care and the quality of life of individuals. As a relatively new discipline, much of the work in biomedical engineering consists of research and development, covering an array of fields: bioinformatics, medical imaging, image processing, physiological signal processing, biomechanics, biomaterials and bioengineering, systems analysis, 3-D modeling, etc.
Job Opportunities
Both public Ltd and private Ltd  companies recruiting biomedical engineers.

Bio-Technology (BT)

Biotechnological engineering(BT) or biological engineering is a branch of engineering that focuses on biotechnologies and biological science. It includes different disciplines such as biochemical engineering,  bio-process engineering, biosystem engineering and so on. Because of the novelty of the field, the definition of a bioengineer is still undefined. However, in general it is an integrated approach of fundamental biological sciences and traditional engineering principles.
Job Opportunities
Bioengineers are often employed to scale up bio processes from the laboratory scale to the manufacturing scale. Moreover, as with most engineers, they often deal with management, economic and legal issues.

Civil Engineering (CE)

Civil Engineering is the mother of all Branches of Engineering. Many of an important things in our lives that we take for granted are the essence of civil engineering. The principal educational objective of this branch is to provide the students, fundamental knowledge and the skills needed to resolve the problems related with the construction and maintenance of infrastructure in harmony with the society and the environment.
Civil engineers plan, design, construct, maintain and manage airports, bridges, tunnels, buildings, harbour facilities, dams, highways, waterways pipelines, sanitation systems, and other aspects of the built environment. The field of civil engineering is about community service, development and improvement, planning, design, construction, and operation of facilities essential to modern life, ranging from transit systems to offshore structures and to space satellites.
Job Opportunities
Successful Civil Engineering graduates are creative, numerate, good communicators and skilled at solving problems and delivering results. With these qualities, our graduates not only develop careers as high quality practicing engineers, but also they are sought after by top companies for their potential in management, finance, consulting and other senior professional positions. Civil engineers are employed by federal, state, and local governments, as well as the private sectors and also by leading international agencies with attractive salary.

Chemical Engineering (CH)

Chemical Engineering is one such discipline which has been dynamic over the years in terms of developing interdisciplinary approach and challenges & changes that it can absorb in this process. The beauty of this discipline lies in its versatility and ability to adapt itself to various new and interdisciplinary fields of engineering and science.
Whether it is environmental engineering, or bio-chemical engineering, or energy Engineering, or optimization, or process control & instrumentation; all can come under the single umbrella of chemical engineering discipline.

Computer Science and Engineering(CS)

Computer science engineering (CS) deals with the development of systems software and software for scientific and industrial applications is an important component of the course, as also training in hardware development.
Job Opportunities
With the widespread use of computers, computer engineers can find employment in almost any area of the industrial sector and in defense and research establishments. They can work with national and multinational manufacturers of computers. In management consultancy organizations, they develop computer programs for industries. Computer engineers also find work in data processing departments of modern industries and in areas where computers and computer-aided systems are used, such as aeronautics and space science, the petroleum industry, chemical plants, and power plants.

Electronics & Communication(EC)

Electronics& Communication (EC)The focus in the study programme is on understanding electronic networks and devices, electromagnetic field theory, computer fundamentals, as also their protection, and communication and control systems.
Job Opportunities
An electronics engineer can be employed in the public and private sector industries and organizations such as the Indian Telephone Industries, MTNL, National Physical Laboratories, AIR, Civil aviation, and the police wireless departments.

Electrical & Electronics Engineering(EE)

Electrical Engineers have, today, become the indispensable to society because of the increasing demand for electrical energy, the development in audio and video communication systems, and the automation in industry. The role of an electrical engineer comprises the design and development of more efficient electrical machinery, power systems, and control equipment for the generation, transmission and distribution of electrical energy and telecommunication
Academic Programme
Here the stress is on a deep understanding of electrical and electronic networks and devices, electromagnetic field theory, electrical energy converters, electrical energy distribution systems etc. At the ME or postgraduate level, specialization in control and instrumentation, electronics and communication, power apparatus and systems, etc. is done.
Job Opportunities
Electrical engineers find jobs in power plants, whether atomic, hydel or thermal power plants. They get jobs in public and private sector industries such as railways, civil aviation, and all types of manufacturing plants. They can also get into teaching in India or abroad or continue with research in laboratories.
